Description
Step-by-Step Watercolour sets out everything you need to know in order to master the art of painting in watercolour, from basic skills through to advanced techniques and developing your own personal style. Packed with step-by-step demonstrations and practical tips, it will enable you to tackle any subject with confidence. The fundamental techniques - flat, graduated and variegated washes, the use of masks, different ways of conveying texture - lead on to more unusual ways of working such as altering paper surface, using bleach and sgraffito. Stan Smith then goes on to demonstrate how to put those techniques in practice by looking at various aspects of the most popular watercolour subjects - landscapes and the natural world, still lifes and figure paintings - and offers a wealth of useful tips and ideas that you can incorporate into your own work.
