Awesome Books Expands World Book Day Giveaway Following Last Year’s SuccessFollowing on from the success of last year, where we donated 10,000 books to Barnardo’s stores across the UK, we are proud to share that in 2026 we have expanded the initiative even further. This World Book Day, Awesome Books is donating almost 30,000 children’s books to 570 Barnardo’s stores nationwide.From Thursday 5th March to Sunday 8th March 2026, whilst stocks last, children can visit participating Barnardo’s stores and choose a free book to take home and keep. Awesome Books Gives Away Thousands of Books for World Book DayThis World Book Day 2025, Awesome Books is excited to partner with Barnardo’s to help children across the UK access free books. From March 6th to 8th, children can visit any Barnardo’s charity store and pick up a free book. This exciting initiative is part of our ongoing mission to inspire a love of reading and improve literacy skills in young readers.We believe every child deserves access to books, but for many families, buying books can be a luxury. By donating over 10,000 children’s books to Barnardo’s retail stores, we’re making sure more kids have the opportunity to discover stories that spark their imagination.

As much as we love reading, there’s no denying that the process of producing books has a massive impact on the environment, from the paper they’re printed on to the chemicals in their ink and the greenhouse gases emitted during their production and transportation around the world. When everyone is trying to do their bit to help stem the climate crisis, buying used books online is a small change that can make a huge difference.
