Media Reviews

“I found Agent Redruth hugely enjoyable – fast-paced, intricately plotted and shot through with all the authentic detail you’d expect from a
journalist of Michael Evans’s experience and calibre. In short, a blast! It’ll fly off
the shelves.” - Giles Whittell, author of Bridge of Spies.

“Terrific story telling enriched by startling inside intel on the world of spooks.” - Patrick Bishop, author of The Man Who Was Saturday.

“A whipcrack thriller from the treacherous world of espionage.” - James MacManus, author of Midnight in Berlin.

“Michael Evans, a brilliant defence journalist, uses his unique knowledge to write a magnificent thriller.” - William Shawcross, author of Justice and the Enemy, and official biographer of Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother.

“Agent Redruth is a gripping and racy thriller set in the world of high-stakes espionage, full of jaw -dropping insights into the workings of Putin’s Russia, and as bang upto-date as today’s headlines, as you would expect from one of the most respected defence correspondents in the country.” - Roger Alton, former editor of the Observer and Independent

“Moving at a thrilling pace, Agent Redruth is a cracking account of spying today in the midst of war in Ukraine, crackdowns in Moscow and attempts by British security services to outwit the Russians. The feel is absolutely right – the guarded dialogue of Whitehall’s spymasters, the arrogance of their US counterparts, the paranoid plotting and suspicions in Putin’s Kremlin and the chaos and confusion of a brutal war. Michael Evans has all the details right: the geography of Moscow streets and metro stations, the battered landmarks in Kyiv, the politics of Whitehall and the thrusting initiatives of a youngBritish television reporter eager to make his mark. Into all this a young and pretty painter, Rebecca, is drawn into an ever more bizarre and dangerous role. The plots, cockups and coincidences pull us along relentlessly to a graphic conclusion. But oh the twist of those final three devastating words!” - Michael Binyon, author of Life in Russia
