Media Reviews
Apart from a high-speed adventure, this is a fabulous introduction to the political system and history for 8-10 year-olds, full of vital nuggets of empowering information. And that's before the really exciting time-travel adventure begins and we get to meet historical figures up close and personal. This would be a great book to read in primary classes with year 4, 5 and 6 to introduce politics and suffragettes/suffragists and the true history of the UK * BookTrust *
I think that this is a brilliant book, and I learnt a lot about the suffragettes and suffragists. I would recommend this book for 8- to 12-year-old and readers who like history and sci-fi. -- Anyanka, aged 10 * Books Up North *
This is a fabulous, accessible introduction to political history for 8-10 year olds and it raises important questions about underrepresented voices from the past. It would be a great book to read in primary classes as part of a contemporary British history lesson. * BookTrust *
Quite educational with some great historic facts blended into the story. * The School Librarian *
Fun, fast-paced, hugely enjoyable way to learn about erased parts of our shared history and how they can help us understand and build a better society today. -- Sophie Anderson, author of The Snow Girl
The first in a thrilling series which explores much needed and missing diverse history. Great characters, punchy storyline. Brilliant! -- A.M. Dassu, author of Boy, Everywhere
Short, pacy and thought-provoking, this thrilling 8+ novel focuses on the suffrage movement, especially the women of colour often erased by history. * Guardian *
A rip-roaring, history-hopping, time-travelling, eye-opening adventure! I loved it. -- Dan Smith, author of The Wall Between Us
This is a wonderful opening to what I'm sure will be a fantastic new series. It zips along and packs so much history in in such a deft way. It was only after enjoying the adventure that I realised how much I'd learned. -- Sarah Todd Taylor, author of the Alice Éclair series
