Media Reviews

"The story of Dracula has been tackled by the wondrous team of Manga Classics, adapting this centuries-old and still-beloved tale of Transylvania for a new audience. Just as with their other adaptations, this book combines direct wording from Stoker’s original with black and white illustrations that make for a concise, faithful, and visually appealing end product." - Youth Services Book Review

"...the pace of the action will keep readers engaged to the end." - Kirkus

"The horror of the original novel is more intense with Nitohei's beautiful drawings. King's adaptation of classics into manga is one of the best of this series." - Oregon Coast Youth Book Preview Center

Author's Bio

Born in Ireland in 1847, Bram Stoker studied mathematics at Dublin's Trinity College and embarked on his longtime role as an assistant to actor Sir Henry Irving in the 1870s. He also began carving out a second career as a writer, publishing his first novel, The Primrose Path, in 1875. Stoker published his most famous work, Dracula, in 1897, though he died before the fictional vampire would achieve widespread popularity though numerous film and literary adaptations in the 20th century. Stacy King is an editor for Manga Classics, a critically-acclaimed line of modern adaptations of literary classics in a manga format. In addition to her editorial duties, she has also written the adaptations for PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, the upcoming THE STORIES OF EDGAR ALLEN POE and DRACULA, along with creating the English-language scripts for other books in the line. She holds an Honors B.A. from the University of Toronto, where she specialized in English Literature. When not immersed in a book, she enjoys historical costuming and obsessing about cats. Virginia Nitouhei is a Japanese Mangaka (artist and story-teller) who is well known for her work on the popular food manga Otherworldly Izakaya Nobu. She is also a featured artist on the Tell Tale Heart in Manga Classics: The Stories of Edgar Allen Poe. When she is not drawing manga, she loves playing video games like Street Fighter.
