Author's Bio

Author Steven P. Medley, hiker, president of the Yosemite Association, and constant friend of the park, spent 35 of his 57 years in Yosemite National Park, starting out as a ranger before moving to the Yosemite Association, which he led for over two decades. Steve was one of Yosemite's greatest supporters, building the Yosemite Association into a tremendous force on behalf of the park. Beyond his professional duties, his love for Yosemite was founded on and renewed by lengthy trips into the deepest backcountry. A map of routes he'd hiked looks a lot like a map of Yosemite's trail network. Steve's energy, drive, and great good humor made him as beloved around Yosemite as Yosemite was to him.
