Author's Bio

Simon Mole is an acclaimed children’s writer, performer and National Poetry Day ambassador. Former poet in residence for the National Literacy Trust, Simon works in schools and libraries across the country and overseas. The videos on his YouTube channel are used by hundreds of thousands of children and teachers across the world each year and have been featured on the BBC. He has published two collections of poetry for younger children:  A First Book of Dinosaurs and A First Book of Bugs and three picture books, Kites, I Love My Bike (shortlisted for The Sunday Times Children’s Sports Book of the Year) and I Love My Cat. Poetry Pizza is his first collection for older readers. Simon lives in Berkshire with his young family, and two extremely fluffy kittens.

Tom McLaughlin studied illustration at Falmouth College of Arts, before working as the political cartoonist at the Western Morning News. His debut picture book was The Diabolical Mr Tiddles and The Story Machine was longlisted for the Carnegie Medal for illustration. His best-known ‘Accidental’ series, including The Accidental Prime Minister, Secret Agent and Billionaire, have been nominated for multiple awards. Tom has recently published his first graphic novel, Alan, King of the Universe. Tom has five children and lives in Exeter in Devon.
