Author's Bio
Over 30 years ago, Mark Rainsley was the only Scout in his troop to capsize and swim when they tried kayaking. Undismayed, he enrolled for an 'intro to white water' course run by Franco (of Pesda Press), who threw him upside-down in his kayak over a Welsh waterfall. Mark has since paddled white water on six continents and made first descents. Mark grew up near Britain's most inland point. After moving to the coast, he bought a sea kayak and paddled solo around the South West. This 1997 trip ranks among his most cherished experiences and was the first leg of a very drawn-out circumnavigation of Britain, which (almost a quarter of a century later) he has now almost finished! Mark is the author of a number of Pesda Press guides to paddling UK waters.
