Description
Peter Alliss has been the "voice of golf" for much of the English-speaking world since his broadcasting debut with the BBC covering the 1961 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Respected by professional and amateur players alike, his sympathetic and idiosyncratic commentary style has helped broaden the sport's appeal to an ever-wider audience. Embellished with insights and personal reminiscences, all the big names feature in this book, plus a few names with which you'll be less familiar. Stars of yesteryear such as Bobby Jones, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tony Jacklin. Charismatic crowd-pleasers of the Lee Trevino, Seve Ballesteros variety. Modern legends like Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie and Tiger Woods. The pioneering women who have moved the ladies' game to new heights. This book is Peter Alliss' illustrated personal testimony to the fine players and characters who have stimulated his love-affair with the game for more than half a century.
