Come! Board the London Bus
and see the London sights with us.
At any time, hop off, explore!
Then climb back on, and ride some more...

As a family of four spend a day exploring London, fun, child-friendly poems introduce readers to our wonderful capital city, and all its secrets. Well-known landmarks like Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and the London Eye, plus inescapable features like rain and taking tea, all get Patty Toht's witty treatment. Non-fiction facts provide more information about the poetry subjects, while rising star Sam Usher brings them to life with his signature style and humour. This gorgeous celebration of London will be loved by both tourists and those who call the city home.

Media Reviews

'Slightly older picture-book fans will enjoy a rhyming city tour with a fresh, poetic feel.' -- The Guardian -- Imogen Russell Williams * The Guardian *
"attractive pen-and-watercolor illustrations of the places visited on the tour, with verse, mostly rhyming couplets, in styles well-suited to each attraction.....A fun...introduction to the famous city."--Kirkus Reviews * Kirkus Reviews *
"Vivid and fresh, the ink-and-watercolor illustrations will engage children with action and lively details within scenes of the city's iconic places. Viewers will enjoy searching the pictures for the comical little raven that follows the family from one destination to the next. While travel guides for children are increasingly hard to find, here's a great option for introducing kids to London."--Booklist * Booklist *
"Striking watercolor illustrations in a mix of full-bleed images, vignettes, and spreads complement the poetry, expanding upon the text and creating flow and rhythm....A fun family read for future tourists and armchair travelers." * School Library Journal *

Author's Bio

Patricia Toht once owned a children's bookstore, Never Never Land. Her favourite moments were connecting readers with the perfect book. After seven wonderful years (and stiff mega-bookstore competition), she shuttered the doors and turned her interest to writing. She has authored Daily Life In Ancient And Modern Moscow (Runestone Press) and has contributed fiction, nonfiction and poetry to numerous children's magazines. Her poetry also appears in the sports anthology, AndThe Crowd Goes Wild!: A Global Gathering Of Sports Poems (Friesen Press). She currently lives in the Chicago area.

Sam Usher spent most of his childhood reading, drawing and forgetting to do his schoolwork. His debut picture book, Can You See Sassoon?, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize and the Red House Award. He has since written and illustrated We are Not Frogs by Michael Morpurgo (Barrington Stoke), Refuge by Anne Booth (Nosy Crow) and two of his own stories: Snow and Rain (Templar Publishing). He lives in London, where he enjoys trespassing and playing the piano.
