Author's Bio

Helen Mort (Author)
Helen Mort is an award-winning author based in Sheffield. She has published two poetry collections (Division Street and No Map Could Show Them), a debut novel (Black Car Burning), a short story collection (Exire) and also writes drama and creative non-fiction. She has been shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize and Costa Prize and won the Fenton Aldeburgh Prize in 2015. Helen has taught creative writing for over ten years and is a Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Sarah Maycock (Illustrator)
Sarah Maycock studied Illustration at Kingston University and in 2011 was selected as an It's Nice That Graduate. Notably, in 2018, she was commissioned to create a series of illustrations for the Natural History Museum's Whales exhibition in London. Having trained herself to draw animals from nature documentaries, her unique ability to capture a creature's characteristics or the forces of nature in just a few swoops of ink is incomparable and truly impressive. Sarah's book Sometimes I Feel... won the ALCS Educational Writers' Award in 2021. She lives in Hastings, UK.
