Author's Bio

Tom and Mairi share a historic house with John Chiesley, aka the ghost Johnny One- Arm. John was a nobleman who killed a judge and swung for it – minus the hand that held the pistol. Now he slams doors and knocks over pots of ink (or so Tom claims). Tom illustrates with a dip-pen, black ink and digital colour, and has worked for MacMillan, Hachette and Amnesty International. Mairi’s career has been devoted to writing and publishing in English and Gaelic. Tom is quite new to Scotland and has enjoyed discovering its fascinating and occasionally gory history and culture.
