Media Reviews

Three very good dogs’ attempts to help others keep backfiring with chaotic consequences – until they pull off a successful kitten rescue in this exuberantly charming picture book. -- Imogen Russell Williams * The Guardian *
And unlike so many modern picture-books, there are no overt messages or spelt-out morals: what we’re given, instead, are everyday lessons in perseverance and the happiness to be found in helping others… But the gentle realism of Clark’s instantly recognisable drawings nonetheless makes this a joy. -- Emily Bearne * The Telegraph *
Everyone loves a flawed hero, and these lovable underdogs are full of character and heart. Always trying their best, despite the outcome, Bodger, Billy and Betty are a testament to never giving up. -- Alice Ellerby * Juno Magazine *
The Good Deed Dogs by Emma Chichester Clark is a great story that beautifully shows the importance of kindness and friendship. It takes us on an adventure with a group of lovable dogs who set out to help members of their community. The illustrations bring the characters to life, making the story even more enjoyable. I loved how each dog - there are three, Bodger, Billy and Betty - has its own personality, which makes the story fun and exciting. The messages about helping others and being a good friend are important (and ones that my sister can learn from). I found it easy to relate to the characters and their adventures. It's an excellent read for anyone who loves animals and stories about doing good things for others. -- Poppy Sparke, Aged 10 * The York Press *
The repetition element works really well and young listeners will love joining in with “We’re here to help!” and “Leave it to us! and shouting CALAMITY at each disaster but it’s Emma’s dramatic, detailed illustrations that really steal the show. A real winner this. -- Jill Bennett * Red Reading Hub *
