Splendid ... A feast for the eyes and ears * The i *
Featuring a flying pirate ship, a delicious donut shop and a rollicking rhyme by Neil Gaiman (which is best read aloud for full pirate effect), Pirate Stew is a great book for storytime with brilliant illustration (featuring a mixed race family) by former Children’s Laureate Chris Riddell * BookTrust *

A riotous rhyming picture book by a pair of ingenious book-aneers. What a witty feast of sing-song verse and visuals this is ... A buccaneering blast of a book that demands to be read aloud, acted out and treasured like ill-gotten gains! * LoveReading4Kids *

Joyful, rhyming, hilarious ... one of the very best adventures little ones could have with words and pictures on paper! * Armadillo Weekly *
A slightly cautionary rhyming tale about what might happen if you hire a pirate as a babysitter […] The detailed and colourful images refer to many fictional pirates, although here they are not villains, but a mutually supportive group who insist on paying their way * Children's Books Ireland *
an anarchical rhyming romp that will keep you Yo Ho Ho-ing on every reading ... Mad and magnificent * Daily Mail *
Hurrah, a riotous joy of a rhyme from the brilliant Neil Gaiman. Hugely reminiscent of Dr Seuss * Dandelion *

For a more boisterous offering, look no further than Pirate Stew ... In this rhyming tale, a crew of swashbuckling pirates make for unusual babysitters, leading to an evening of chaos, adventure, and a very strange stew, which the children are desperate to avoid * A little bit of magic, The Scotsman *
Pirate Stew is a very enjoyable book with very colourful pictures. The story line is funny with a twist at the end * Toddle About *
