Description

Holly Martin must find a dangerous sexual offender before he strikes again.

Corporal Holly Martin’s small RCMP detachment on Vancouver Island is rocked by a midnight attack on a woman camping alone at picturesque French Beach. Then Holly’s constable, Chipper Knox Singh, is accused of sexually assaulting a girl during a routine traffic stop and is removed from active duty. At another beach a girl is killed. An assailant is operating unseen in these dark, forested locations.

The case breaks open when a third young woman is raped in daylight and gives a precise description of the assailant. Public outrage and harsh criticism of local law enforcement augment tensions in the frightened community, but as a mere corporal, Holly is kept on the periphery. She must assemble her own clues.

Media Reviews

This third outing in the Corporal Holly Martin series had me riveted right from the beginning. * Mystery Maven *
Readers who are interested in dense local detail along with their mystery plots will find plenty to interest in Twilight Is Not Good for Maidens. * CriminalElement.com *
Lou Allin is the go-to writer for no-nonsense, well-told stories with tightly knit dialogue, energetic action that pushes the story through a maze of clues to a satisfying conclusion.
With deftly interwoven references to literary figures . . . and insight into the protagonist’s family, fans will enjoy this taut thriller.
This mystery novel is well written and keeps you opening the book to read just a little more while you can. The descriptions of familiar places in the Sooke area is a treat and Allin captures much of the community and the characters in it, keeping it strangely personal. * The Sooke News Mirror *
