Description
Darshan centres on Sara Davis, who, having lived in India since she was ten, returns to Britain in 1999 to study in Oxford. She has always felt a misfit in India and harbours hopes of finding her missing Welsh father. However, things take a sinister turn. She is subjected to terror, betrayal and bitter disappointment, when she is dragged into a religious cult that preys on young women, and when she discovers the terrible truth about her father. Her quest takes her to Wales, Germany, New York and to India, where she finds a chance of contentment - but at a price. The novel explores issues of cultural identity and challenges preconceptions about Indian society. The author, who has an MA in Indian temple art and architecture, and has lived in India, has drawn on elements of her research and experiences in the novel.
