This is a handbook for pastors at the beginning of their ministry and others who may benefit from the stimulus of comparing their own way of doing things with someone else's. Behind the book are five basic conventions: pastors and teachers are Christ's special gift to his Church; the pastor and teacher is an elder among others in the local church; the work of such elders needs to be encouraged and developed; there must be a leader among leaders, whatever the pattern of local church leadership structure; both pastor and church fellowship of which he is a part need to be quite clear as to their function and place in the body of Christ.
