Description

"The Horse Shoeing Book" is a user-friendly introduction to the craft of farriery. It assumes no previous knowledge but leads the reader from the basic principles into an understanding of the more advanced methods of shoeing. If you ever had any questions about horseshoeing but were afraid to ask your farrier then "The Horse Shoeing Book" is the book for you. The book is abundantly illustrated with many of the author's own photographs and superb drawings by Maggie Raynor. There are thoughts on shoeing by top horse people Stephen Hadley, Robert Lemieux, Martin Pipe, Robert Oliver and Sallie Walrond. Whether you are interested in learning about one of the oldest surviving traditional crafts, or whether you have a horse to care for, "The Horse Shoeing Book" will be a fascinating and valuable source of reference.

Author's Bio

Martin Humphrey was born in London in 1956. He qualified as a veterinary surgeon at Glasgow University in 1979 and additionally as a farrier at the Hereford School of Farriery in 1983. He is, currently, the only person to be so doubly qualified and is a leading authority on horseshoeing. With Colonel John Hickman he is co-author of Hickman's Farriery, the standard shoeing textbook for farriers and veterinary surgeons worldwide. Martin Humphrey shoes horses every day of the week, dealing with all types of horses and ponies and specialising in orthopaedic farriery.
