Description
This title offers an insight into the religious and burial practices of the ancient Egyptians and the livesthat they led. The book first deals with the tombs of ancient Egypt and the three most famous burial sites in Egypt: Giza, Saqqara and the Valley of the Kings, where the tomb of the boy-king Tuthankhamun was discovered. It then investigates the temples, from the mortuary temples of the pharaohs such as Ramesses Ii and Hatshepsut, the feamle pharaoh, to the temples of the many gods and goddesses of ancient Egypt, including Isis and Nut. As well as providing an insight iinto burial practices, the tombs and temples have also left us with an insight into the daiily lives of the ancient Egyptians: their jobs, pastimes and family life. The tomb paintings depict craftsmen at work, hunters catching animals, and celebrations and feasts.
