Author's Bio

GARETH FRY is a specialist in spatial audio across multiple fields. He has sound-designed large-scale binaural works such as Complicité’s The Encounter and Donmar’s Macbeth, starring David Tennant and Cush Jumbo. He has designed audio dramas for BBC Radio, including The Dark is Rising, (nominated for BBC’s Best Use of Sound award), as well as podcasts. His work in XR has been showcased at the Sundance, Tribeca, London and Venice Film Festivals, and exhibited globally. Gareth is also known for his technical innovation, as soundscape designer for the 2012 Olympic Games’ Opening Ceremony, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Punchdrunk’s Viola’s Room. He has also collaborated with musicians such as Bastille, Riz Ahmed and Thom Yorke. Awards include three Olivier Awards, two Tony Awards, two Drama Desk Awards, two Helpmann Awards, one WhatsOnStage award, and an Evening Standard award.
