Author's Bio
Philip Allen is a sedimentary geologist with research interests in sedimentology, stratigraphy, physical Earth surface processes, and basin analysis. He has held University appointments at Cardiff, Oxford, and Trinity College, Dublin, and is currently a Professor in the Geological Institute of the Swiss Federal Polytechnic (ETH) in Zurich. John Allen has 25 years experience as a petroleum geologist in the international oil and gas industry, initially with British Petroleum (BP) and then with BHP Billiton as an exploration advisor and Chief Geologist. He is currently a global business strategist in BHP Billiton's Petroleum division, based in Melbourne, Australia.
