Description

It is becoming increasingly evident that many people, including those who are already acting as supervisors, lack a clear direction regarding the desired structure, focus and outcome of a supervision session. Time and again people express the need for a guide or blue print that helps them run a session effectively. This book provides such a guide and is based on a practical, user friendly model, which so far has been well received by those to whom it has been introduced. The author presents a range of useful skills for both supervisors and supervisees as well as an extensive tool kit - methods that that may be used via scenarios, case studies and examples taken from right across the professions at which the book is aimed. Van Ooijen suggests helpful qualities/ habits to be developed and tasks to be addressed by both supervisor and supervisee with useful skills to develop and a tool kit which may be used. Theses skills can then be tested rounded off by a consolidation section in which the reader can test their knowledge and understanding by completing a number of questions.

This book is engaging from the outset. It was full of visual images and useful metaphors, passionate and personal and at the same time demonstrating a clarity and precision in the author s use of models and application... It is full of good ideas, interesting examples and anecdotes and pure vision. This is a book I will most definitely be buying and will recommend to any supervisor or training supervisor . Julie Hewson, Director, The Iron Mill Institute
Supervision Made Easy is just what is needed within this constantly changing world of health and social care. Els van Ooijen s book provides a structure and an understanding of clinical supervision that is both easy to comprehend and a delight to read . Maureen Eby, Senior Lecturer, School of Health & Social Welfare, The Open University
would personally extremely highly recommend the text and will use it as a core text in master s papers in palliative care . Margi Martin, Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
particular contribution to this stream of practice, thinking and writing, is her ability to integrate and simplify many of the approaches and to present to the new supervisor a book that is both easy to read and full of practical ways of organising their supervision. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and that it enriches your ability to reflect on your own practice as well as enable others to do the same . Dr. Peter Hawkins, September 2002
example of the kind of made easy that is the culmination of a complex and lengthy scholarship. The book will be an asset for both supervisors and supervisees at all stages of development. With Clinical Supervision Made East you get what is stated in the title: a complex subject becomes accessible to supervisors and supervisees at different levels of development . Michael Carroll Ph.D. Visiting Industrial Professor, University of Bristol
is a simple and down to earth text that is very accessible and easy to get into. It is something I would highly recommend for students at undergraduate level and for trainees/trainers on short courses in this area . Amelia Lyons, Head of School of Social Studies, UWCN
