RUTH HELYER is Head of Workforce Development (Research& Policy) at Teesside University, UK. Her research interests encompass all aspects of academic business-facing activity. Recent publications include 'Employer Engagement: the new widening participation?' in the Journal of Widening Participation and Lifelong Learning, Staffordshire University (December 2008).
