Description

Haunted. Scarred. Alone.
And the nightmare's just beginning...

The Wildfire Season is a remarkable tour de force - an edgy psychological thriller, a supernatural chiller, a terrifying tale of untamed nature and a poignant love story.

The vast tracts of wilderness of the Canadian north are beautiful but dangerous - a place to lose yourself, or hide your secrets. For fire-fighter Miles McEwan, scarred and haunted by a terrible death, it is both.

But the uneasy peace of his new life in the backwoods town of Ross River can't last. Violence is simmering in the vast forests around him and the past he thought he had escaped is about to catch up with him.

Now Miles must fight the fires that rage around him as well the ones he had hoped to leave behind. All the time knowing that one of his friends must be a killer...

Media Reviews

Reviews for Andrew Pyper:

"This novel's on fire...Andrew Pyper knows how to whirl a complex plot into motion...but exceeds the demands of the suspense-thriller genre. Pyper is a literary craftsman who knows what he is doing at all times, a consummate professional who, judging from The Wildfire Season, proposes to burn for a very long time" Globe and Mail

'This is one scary book...You'll want to keep all the lights on as you read this one.' Independent on Sunday

'This is an excellently written novel, brilliant in its evocation of atmosphere.' Evening Standard

'Extremely compelling.' Sunday Telegraph

'Lost Girls is a hugely impressive and utterly compelling thriller.' Independent

'A remarkably fine debut nove...has a menace that is all its own.' Time Out

'Remarkable and compelling. But, more than that, it is a novel that goes some way towards reinventing the literary ghost story.' The Times

'A sombre portrait of men and women under the most intense psychological and physical pressure. It packs a mean punch - and some rude surprises...a wonderfully twisted updating of James Dickey's Deliverance, this one will grip you.' Guardian
