Sarah J Maas

Biography

An American high fantasy author, Sarah J. Maas is the author behind the internationally bestselling A Court Of Thorns And Roses series. Born in 1986, Sarah was raised in Manhattan and had a passion for writing from a young age. She began writing her first novel at 16, posting the first few chapters on a website dedicated to aspiring authors; they quickly become the most popular stories on the site. She graduated from Hamilton College with a degree in creative writing in 2008, and immediately embarked on her chosen career. She removed her debut novel from the website and started sending it to literary agents in 2009. In 2012, Throne Of Glass was published. Quickly achieving a dedicated fanbase, a further two books were commissioned by the publisher, and the Throne Of Glass series became a New York Times bestseller and television rights were bought. Sarah went on to write a further two fantasy series, A Court Of Thorns And Roses and Crescent City, which was her first high fantasy series for adults. Both went on to become bestsellers, with House Of Sky And Breath, the second instalment of the Crescent City series, winning the Goodreads Best Fantasy Award in 2022. A compelling mix of romance and fantasy, Sarah J. Maas’s novels are full of epic world building, complex plotting and breathtaking adventures. With characters who are brave and strong but also relatable as they invariably make mistakes, her novels offer escapism to a fantastical yet morally grey world of imperfect people, where you can easily imagine yourself as part of the drama as it unfolds around you.
