Biography
A US Navy SEAL, ultramarathon runner, long-distance cyclist and triathlete, David Goggins is a motivational speaker and author who helps people tap into their unlimited potential.
Born in New York in 1975, Goggins suffered abuse at the hands of his father before his parents separated, and he went to live in Indiana with his mother and brother. Struggling in school, he was diagnosed with a learning difficulty and was subjected to racist bullying from his classmates. His grandfather, an Air Force veteran, inspired him to sign up.
Finding himself too overweight to join, however, Goggins needed to lose over 100lbs, and he had to rely on his own determination, ambition and discipline to succeed. He lost the weight in 3 months, and went on to have a distinguished 20-year career in the Navy SEALS.
In 2005, he started competing in endurance challenges to raise money for charity, and has raised millions of dollars to support the children of fallen soldiers. Named a ‘Hero of Running’ by Runner’s World magazine in 2008, he was inducted into the International Sports Hall Of Fame in 2019.
In 2018, Goggins published his first autobiography, detailing how he transformed himself from an overweight teen with no future into a decorated soldier and elite sportsman, all through his own hard work and self-discipline. Can’t Hurt Me sold over 5 million copies, and reveals how anyone can overcome their own fears, limitations and obstacles and reach their full potential. The sequel, Never Finished, was published in 2022.
Inspiring and motivational, David Goggins offers strategies to help anyone achieve their goals, revealing his own struggles and how he overcame them. For anyone trying to improve their lives through self-help and finds themselves needing a bit of encouragement, David Goggins could be just the man you need to help you reach your full potential.
